Deviant feature

Journal Entry: Sun Dec 30, 2012, 10:16 PM
Hey guys

Thank you again for all of the views/favourites, they're very much appreciated and make continual efforts to bring more artwork to you worth it. I'd like to start a string of Deviant features, showing off the talent of people I have come to know. The first is X-Raited, who's profile can be found here:

[link]

He has been a good friend for many years now, and his talent never fails to amaze me. He is one of the most talented vehicle artist I know, so please check out his work and keep an eye out for new stuff in the future!

Happy new year everybody, I hope 2013 brings you what you're looking for!

Quick questionnaire (Responses hugely appreciated)

Journal Entry: Sat May 5, 2012, 10:24 PM
Hey guys

I'm doing a bit of work for a company who has asked me to conduct a little bit of market research, and ask any of my peers if they would be so nice as to answer a couple of questions for them. Of course you don't have to help, but it would be hugely appreciated as I said in the title.

The set of questions are based around Audio electronics (Specifically headphone amplifiers)

You don't have to know anything about headphone amplifiers to answer the questions, although a little bit of knowledge could help. Any responses ranging from 10 words each to 1000 word essays are welcomed!

Thank you in advance to anybody who chooses to help out. Questions are as follows:

1:
How important would you say social media (ie: Facebook, Twitter etc) are to marketing a product?

2:
What facilities would you prefer for new electronics equipment? (USB, Line-in, RCA cables) In other words, would you like to see new products with simple, easy to use connections - or newly researched connections which could be more complicated.

3:
The look of the product. Would you like to see audio electronics created in a variety of colours to match gender preferences for example (Pink, Black, White, Red, Blue, etc) or do you think that slightly higher end electronics should retain a mutual, professional look (White, Brushed Aluminium, White, grey)

4:
Do you think a font such as Times New Roman should be changed to something a bit more youthful to attract the attention of a more youthful audience, or should the font remain consistent to in-keep with professionalism and quality.

That's it

The main thing they're looking for is creating a new headphone amplifier to appeal more to a younger target audience (16-30 range) at a price of around £200 - £250. Any notes you feel to add on to your responses are more than welcomed.

Again, thank you if you answer.

It's been a while!

Sun Jan 22, 2012, 12:29 PM
Sorry for the lack of updates to my journal guys, I've either been too busy or too unwell to focus on anything else.

First off, a big thank you to everybody who continues to watch my page and comment/fav my work! Without you guys, I'd just be a lonely artist posting his work into a black hole.
In the very near future, I plan to start expanding a little. I'll be completing more client projects, expanding my skills and learning 3D to cover more bases. I'll also toy around with new styles, and bulk out the painting side of my portfolio as well as my vehicle rendering.

I hope everyone had a sweet Christmas and a happy New Year, and I'll update soon!

OK, there's a lot of things going on at Autemo at the minute which demand attention, and that attention is being given. Unfortunately, this also means that lately, I haven't really had any time to work on the tutorials. They haven't been forgotten about however, so fear not. They'll just take a little longer than I thought to finish.

On a much brighter note, those of you who religiously post on Autemo, or even just head there to check out the work will be aware that we've got a big packet of updates on the way. Now, I'm not going to let on just what these updates are at the minute, but be aware that they will be here pretty damn soon, and they will blow you away. I'm talking really fucking far away.

Big props to Mark and Bjoern, and other fellow admins on Autemo who continue to keep the forum moving, the members happy, and our clients satisfied. More-so Mark at the minute who is dedicating his own time and effort to not only create, but constantly improve a community designed to be the home to thousands of choppers across the world. Due to this effort, we're now the world's biggest vehicle rendering community, pulling in some rather large clients if I don't say so myself.

Lastly, thankyou to our members who post on a daily basis, showcase their work and help each other in the pursuit of perfection. The forum is the heart of our community, and without it, we wouldn't have the passion to drive us to do what we do.

Keep your eyes peeled on the scene, as we're about to explode out of beta stages and right into the mainstream.

Photoshop Bible - The new Testament

Tue Nov 9, 2010, 8:14 AM
So as everybody who chops cars knows, Digimods is the one place people tend to go to learn beginner techniques and ocassionaly some advanced stuff by using the photoshop bible on there.

My plan is to thoroughly re-do the entire bible and add a lot more stuff to bring it up to date, and more useable than ever with more modern techniques, new tools, better tutorials and a LOT of extras thrown in too. The bible when complete will be hosted on Autemo, the number one place for chopping on the internet. The new testament will cover beginner methods aswell as advanced stuff to cater for any level of chopping, ensuring that anybody who wants to learn new techniques has a place to check it out!

It will take a few months to complete, but i'm looking forward to the challenge. This is just one of the many updates soon so hit Autemo, so keep your eyes peeled; it's sure to be a hit.

Starting to learn 3D

Thu Oct 21, 2010, 6:36 AM
Mister Josh Cloud (AKA Americancure or Cloud) Introduced me to a nifty little program called Zbrush 4.0. It is a 3D modelling program but slightly different to the rest. Whereas with other traditional 3D modelling programs, youre pulling polygons, only in this one you are in effect sculpting clay on your screen. The program was used to model the characters in Avatar, every city in assassins creed 1 and 2, and some other big names. It really is powerful. I'm slowly getting there with figuring out the program and what does what, so I guess you can keep your eye out for some 3D work to hit my gallery!

Choppers block anyone?

Thu Aug 19, 2010, 2:49 AM
For a long while now, I've had the dreaded choppers block. You know what it's like. You start worrying that you're not submitting art as often as usual, you open up a picture ready to work your magic and your motivation dies the second you realise that you have no plans for the car at all. It was only when I worked on the Zenvo that it would seem my block has disappeared completely. I can't wait to jump back into photoshop and get my gallery padded out with some awesome deviations now. The next piece will be a commissioned speedpainting courtesy of an epic Author who goes by the name of Joseph Devon. Keep your eye out for it over at www.josephdevon.com, where it will be posted before it's posted in my gallery.

Look after your money

Mon Aug 2, 2010, 4:38 AM
Sat here, and to say i'm a bit pissed off is an understatement. Today I was in town and spent £89 on a pair of Sony MDR-V700DJ Headphones... I was told before the purchase that I couldn't take them back if I didn't like them as I can't return electrical items to Sony... What else would I buy from Sony, a towel?

Anyway, got them home and give them the whole 9 yards... in a nutshell, they're absolutely shit. £89 isn't a ridiculous amount of money but for a pair of headphones at that price you expect pretty damn good quality. Tinny top end, and a complete and utter lack of low end frequency contrary to Sony claiming they can go as low as 3Hz

Here's a middle finger to you Sony, for leaving me £89 out of pocket for buying your Chinese assembled heap of crap.

This was a public service announcement from jackdarton to warn you to hold your wallet close to your chest, and as tempting as the salesman may make the items look, it's to line his own pocket with commission. A good salesman will sell his Grandmother to make up the numbers.

If you sympathise with my story, throw a Llama my way.

Back in business!

Tue Jul 27, 2010, 5:59 PM
Since I first started using photoshop about 6-7 years ago, I have done so on many laptops. Not once, in my entire life have I owned my own desktop PC. It's either been about the money, efficiency etc... There are many things about using a laptop for my work that hold me back such as lack of proper keyboard, lack of space on my desk, slow performance... you get the point. Well i'm happy to announce that you should see a considerable boost in my work quality, time and sheer attention to detail, as this week - I get a brand new PC! Specs are as follows:

Quad core Q9650 Processor @ 3GHz
4GB DDR2 Ram with 2 spare slots
nVidia GEforce 1GB Graphics card
1TB Hard Drive, and one 750GB External
22" HD Monitor
2 DVD Drives (one blu ray)
Windows 7 Ultimate
WiFi built in
7.1 HD Sound card

How much am I forking out for that I hear you cry?!

Well, the staggering price of wait for it...

£100

You heard me right. Watch this space!
